Here is your new 11th LD Dems Executive Board! Th Here is your new 11th LD Dems Executive Board!  Thank you to all the candidates who ran, all the PCOs who participated, and all those who watched along!  This is a great team that will get to do great work over the next two years in the 11th Legislative District.  We will have a few more elections in February, and many more chances to get involved over the next two years!  See you all on February 16.

One of the ugly chapters of American history will be ending this week, but we must not let ourselves be fooled into thinking that our ugly past is behind us - the fight for justice continues!

Today is #GivingTuesday - a time when we spare wha Today is #GivingTuesday - a time when we spare what we can to support our community.  Our community has been hard hit by the current crisis.  We see every day how the ongoing pandemic and its associated economic crisis only add to the structural inequities in our society.  Find a local non-profit to support today!
This year is a difficult one for all of us. Many This year is a difficult one for all of us.  Many families have been directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and all of us have been affected by the restrictions keeping us safe.  In the 11th LD, we are thankful for all the health care workers keeping us safe and for everyone's efforts to stay home and stay healthy.  We are wishing you and all yours joy this Thanksgiving!
Washington State voters approved Referendum 90, wh Washington State voters approved Referendum 90, which reaffirmed the Legislature's passage of Senate Bill 5395 last session.  That bill requires school districts in our State to provide comprehensive sexual health education for students.
One of the things on your November ballot that pas One of the things on your November ballot that passed here in the 11th LD was Seattle Prop. 1, which will provide continued funding for Seattle's Transportation Benefit District.  It renewed a 0.1% sales tax in Seattle to fund a number of transit options and projects, including tens of thousands of hours of transit service to Seattle.

Elected official spotlight: we're spotlighting to Elected official spotlight:  we're spotlighting today Mike Pellicciotti, who became the only Democrat to flip a statewide elected office this year.  He'll be our next Washington State Treasurer.  During the campaign, he promised to make our State's finances more transparent and more in service to the people.  This office will be up again in four years - well enough time for us all to learn more about the State Treasurer's office and its new occupant!

Washington voters have now officially chosen Democrats for all but one statewide office (hint:  she's the only one highlighted in red)  Can you name them all?
On this day, we take a moment to thank our veteran On this day, we take a moment to thank our veterans. Democrats all around the country are committed to fighting for the rights that veterans deserve!  The 11th LD Dems will do our part to work for veterans in our community.
We're reviewing last Tuesday's election results he We're reviewing last Tuesday's election results here at the 11th LD.  We had four exciting races for the Washington Supreme Court.  Washington voters decided to retain all four of the progressive justices up for election:  Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis, Justice G. Helen Whitener, Justice Charles Johnson, and Justice Brenda Stephens.⠀

Justice Montoya-Lewis joined the court in 2019 year, becoming the first Native American member of the State's highest court.⠀

Justice Whitener was born in Trinidad, got her JD at Seattle U, and joined the court this year after her appointment by Governor Jay Inslee.⠀

Justice Johnson is the most senior justice serving on our supreme court, having joined the court in 1991.⠀
⠀
Justice Stephens was the most recent Chief Justice, and she will be replaced by Justice Gonzalez next year.⠀

Congratulations to the newly reelected and elected Congratulations to the newly reelected and elected representatives of the 11th Legislative District!  Congrats are in order to Senator Bob Hasegawa and Representative Steve Bergquist on their reelection and to newly elected David Hackney, who will join them in the Legislature in January!  Join us in congratulating all three of our representatives and in reviewing other local results in our area and around the country this week!
