Renton, Washington, July 17, 2015 – On July 15, 2015, the 11th Legislative District Democrats found a piece of campaign literature from the Monique Taylor-Swan for Renton City Council campaign that showed our organization endorsed her.  We did NOT endorse her.  The 11th Legislative District Democrats sole-endorsed Ryan McIrvin for Renton City Council Position 4.

The rest of our endorsements for 2015 can be found at: https://www.11thlddems.org/2015/06/11th-ld-democrats-endorsements-primary-2015/

  • A Working Waterfront: ensuring the Port of Seattle remains competitive with other west coast ports and creating living wage jobs
  • Environmental Health: focusing on air pollution and the Duwamish River and Superfund cleanup
  • Transparency: in government processes
  • And much more!

“Want Our Votes? Know Our Neighborhood: South Park Shows Up”

Wednesday, 5/27/2015 from 7-9pm
South Park Neighborhood Center @ 8201 10th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108

https://www.facebook.com/events/826194567434460/

This year, voting for Seattle City Council positions will be by district, a result of a measure Seattle voters passed in 2013. In the upcoming primary and general elections, voters will elect seven out of nine councilmembers by district. The remaining two positions (8 and 9) will be elected “at large” (citywide).

South Park residents live in District 1–along with West Seattle and Delridge residents. Candidates have been campaigning to the larger neighborhoods in the district. We want to bring them to South Park!

They want our votes? They need to know our neighborhood!

We’re providing food, a space to entertain your kids while you participate, and an entertaining (yet informative) format.

Here are the goals for this event:

*****Engage the community of South Park in the political process, including residents who speak English as a second language–translation provided!
*****Teach the candidates about the unique qualities of South Park (i.e…one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the city, more children per capita than any other Seattle neighborhood)
*****Bring favorable media attention to South Park–and remind the rest of the city how awesome it is!
******Provide an easy & convenient way to get voters in South Park registered for the upcoming election
******Give time for candidates to share their positions on South Park issues
